Pithiviers - France, 26/09/1998

Missing some 75 km to reach Paris camped at Domaine de la Joulliere (45,480 Andonville - just off Orleans , before reaching Pithiviers ). Pithiviers City is the commercial center of saffron.

This stretch we had the pleasure of visiting the castles in the Loire Valley , land of castles around Loire River .

On the outskirts of Paris were the famous Palace of Versailles of Louis XIV (Sun King ). A large building, with significant gardens, and very well preserved .

a separate mention is to the Galeries Lafayette (during the trip and went to fulfill the most important Harrods in London, El Corte Ingles in Barcelona). It's amazing how they are designed for all age groups, from the best trademarks to make cheap and offers tables on the sidewalk.

La Costa Brava in Catalan (SPAIN)

Palamós - Spain, 09/18/1998

The sweet and Frenchified Riviera in the Mediterranean, turns south on the Costa Brava Catalan, separated by Gulf of Lions .

Here the beaches (rocks btw) are surrounded by mountains much closer to the coast than in the previous cities we visited. There are fishing villages that survived the development of tourism and big cities.

Rumbo a Barcelona we stayed in a cabin Vilarroma Camping (Calle del Mar - Avenida Catalunya 44, Palamós - Gerona province ).

Barcelona - Spain, 09/19/1998

Leaving Barcelona on Highway Castelldefels, we settled in a tent at Camping El Toro Bravo (Carretera C-246 Km 11 Viladecans). From there (nowhere near the center) were in a truck to make the rides as good tourists, but the delay is Dead (at rush hour the roads - enable even more of a way out - become impassable .) You must try to move in train. A very clever advertising on the highway saying something like, "if you can read this sign is not going to the center by train."

Barcelona is like being at home. It has everything for tourists: the old town, cathedrals, parks and plazas, wide avenues, narrow streets with musicians on the streets, beautiful buildings, modern sculptures. And if all that were recently, also have port and beach.

Classic tours in Barcelona led us to Triumphal Arch (built for the Universal Exhibition , 1888), the Cathedral Barri Gotic (the old city ), Tower del Ayuntamiento, Plaza de la Cascada and the important Stadium of Montjuic (Olympic Stadium 1992). Here

the promenade runs from the Plaza de Catalunya to the harbor, ending at Plaza Columbus. It is called "the gullies "for each tranche has a different name, until the pier and bridge .

The famous architect Gaudí Barcelona has excellent works, among them: unfinished church of Sagrada Familia, Casa La Pedrera (with original fireplaces ), the Casa Batllo (full of tiles and ceramics ) and the wonderful Guell Park (with stairs and columns ).

were also in the Plaza de Toros Monumental where runs are really popular party (mainly older), but also animal welfare organizations to make their protests to entry, and I warn tourists to be a macabre spectacle (most visitors leaving within 15 minutes of start).

One of the best views of the city is from the Palau Nacional in Plaza Spain.

Almost all signs are in Catalan , and even the menu that will bring in restaurants is in the local language, even if you request it by a change in Castilian . That if you never say "English", it will respond "will mean in Castilian, for the English language is Catalan."

Principality with sea view (FRANCE)

Monte Carlo - Monaco, 09/15/1998

Back by Monaco repeat visit to the Palacio Real and other classical corners of the principality.

I went back to sleep Camping Plateau St. Michel ( Chin), but this time we set up the tent.

Antibes - France, Antibes
09/16/1998
was our choice to avoid sleeping in Nice or Cannes that are a little more expensive and congested. We chose a tent in the camping Le Rossignol (2074 Av Jean Michard Pellisier), and from there continue along the coast ( Saint Tropez, Marseille , etc), then go up a little to Avignon and continue to journey to Spain.

Avignon - France, 17/09/1998

As I joined a second truck, I had to repeat some destinations, such as the cities of the Cote d'Azur and Avignon itself. So here I simply refer to my first comment area.

This time we stayed at Camping Bagatelle (Ile de la Barthelasse on the island against the Daladier bridge).

The Roman Empire (Italy)

Rome - Italy, 09.11.1998

The heart of the Roman Empire we get, after 1 hour of travel (bus or subway) from the Tiber Camping (Via Tiberina Km 1.400 - Prima Porta), where we set up the tent.

In a brief tour by the city (to much more) we find some very interesting places: Parliament (Altare della Patria , a huge building, 1885), Fontana di Trevi ( as a mark coins throw tradition to the source to return to Rome), Palazzo di Giustizia (built as Tribunal of Rome in 1889), Spain Plaza (from the steps of the Trinita dei Monti Church are fashion shows), the Colosseum (there are actors dressed as gladiators and Roman soldiers to take photos ), and Arc de Triomphe Italian.

of Vatican City : Pizza San Pietro (with the imposing basilica papal), La Piedad of Miguel Angel (which was damaged by a fan and is now behind bulletproof glass) , San Giovanni in Laterano (Basilica was the first cristina city and is now the cathedral of Rome), and the thousand luxuries of the capital of Christianity.

Pisa - Italy, 13.09.1998

camp at the Leaning Tower Campeggio (Viale delle Cascine 86). The city of Pisa is very small so it was very close.

The traveled basically led us to the Piazza dei Miracoli , with Duomo, the Cathedral (Buschetto built by the year 1063) and Torre (which began in built year 1174 and is still leaning to the sadness of the architects, and happiness of the tourists - mostly Japanese - who takes the opportunity to take photos silly.)

Genoa - Italy, 14.09.1998

Since we entered Austria in Venice Italy (at the foot of the Adriatic Sea), then down due south through Florence to Rome, and now we follow the Mediterranean coast towards and France Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur .

In Genoa we set the tent in the Campeggio Villa Doria (Via Al Campeggio Villa Doria, 15) . To go to the center had to take a train IRU (10 minutes).

L'arte di Venezia e Firenze (Italy)

Venice - Italy, Venice
07/09/1998
is always full of tourists (over 25,000 newspapers, which become 103,000 per day during the carnival ), but although Incredibly their cobbled streets and channels seem silent, as if it were an abandoned city frozen in time.

camped at Camping Rialto (Via Orlanda 16). It's far away, combine train and bus (2 dollars a ticket to the center). The center of the city has very limited vehicle access. The
walks
: Grand Canal (with 4 km long , 30 to 70 m wide and 5 m maximum depth), the Palazzo Ducale (the X century ), the Piazza San Marco ( Napoleon considered it the most beautiful square in Europe), the Campanile (worth the climb), the Bridge of Sighs (which has little romantic, it was the last opportunity that had the sentence of death to see the outside, and linking the courthouse and jail).

The city is so famous that there are many comments and experiences, but at least I personally was as romantic as one can imagine it. No smell of putrid water as some have said, perhaps by cleaning program channels (from 1998, complete with docks emptied and cleaned the background.)

Except for historical buildings, houses are generally quite damaged, giving it a touch old flame to take many photographs. One never tires of gondolas and white sticks with red stripe spiral.

Florence - Italy, 09.09.1998

This it was a good idea to set up the tent in the Camping Michelangelo (Viale Michelangelo 80), because although the ground is very hard (drive a stake through the stone seems impossible), is nearby and a bus that does a circular route leaves us heart (4 trips ticket $ 3.40.) It is also on a high, with a beautiful view of Florence .

A very original bridge is the Ponte Vecchio crossing the Arno River , and has the particularity to be full of shops like a city street. Other walks

: The Tower di Palazzo Vecchio The Uffizi Gallery (which houses the painting of fortune Médicis), the Fontana Neptune (in the Piazza della Signoria ), the Campanile di Giotto ( church in the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore XIV century).

Imperdible is The David of Miguel Angel , that after so many years of seeing the replica is in Montevideo, you discover what your true magic. The details carved in white marble of 409 cm. height the incredible realism.

As we walked through the city find the Dante Alighieri graves , Miguel Angel , Galileo Galilei and Machiavelli in Santa Croce church .

Huns and Vampires (HUNGARY )

Budapest - Hungary, 03/09/1998

The history of Hungary has much to do with the Huns , the Austro-Hungarian empire , and also with tales of vampires by proximity to Transylvania (we even saw a reproduction of Transylvania Castle).

We settled into a cabin in the Romai Camping (Szentendre ut 189) which is very close and requires taking a train (HEV ) to reach the center of city without having to walk in the truck.

A ticket for 24 hours for Metro of Budapest costs about $ 3. This is the second most Metro old Europe.

is a country that is not covered by insurance in Europe, so we had to recruit extra security border against third parties for $ 35.

The city has two parts separated by the Danube that joke may seem true, are called Buda and Pest . In reality there was a third city that was called Obuda, which disappeared when the three united to form Budapest .

Among the places visited Buddha : Matthias Church (Mátyás-templom , with a beautiful stained glass in the main altar), the Fishermen's Bastion (from where the fishermen defended the city by the year 1905), the Royal Palace Budavari Palota and the National Gallery of Art .

crossed the river Danube , advantage to enjoy the walk along the bridge of Chains (Szechenyi Ianchid ).

Across the Danube is the city of Pest with: the parliament building (which is one of the greatest legislative buildings Europe), the Basilica of San Esteban , as well as in the Varosliget Park (next to the park is the Heroes Square, Castle Vajdahunyad the Zoo , and Szechenyi thermal baths ).

At night, we bid farewell to Budapest with Hungarian beer (Kaiser ) in Anna Café (V. Váci utca 5).

Now we go a little further east to reach the shores of the river Danube and enjoy Vienna, the capital of Austria (Republik Österreich, meaning "Eastern Empire").

The tour began in Heldenplatz, a huge square with the Winter Palace as a large main building and the gardens (Burggarten) making this a great stage for the monarchy.

then visit the Parliament Vienna, the majestic Hall (Rathaus ) and the Votive Church ( Votivkirche ) built in 1879 with Gothic.

One of the most beautiful is the Summer Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn ) with endless gardens and the main construction boomed in the late opted for a lodge XVIII.Para Camping cabins in the Standt Platz der Wien ( Wien West II - A1140, Huttelberstrasse 80).
