Leaving Switzerland made a small passage Italy, visiting Torino (Turin ) and the river Po then crossing the Alps again and start our tour of the French Riviera.
To visit the principality of Monaco we installed the Plateau Lodge - St. Michel that runs on the Plateau Camping . The place is in the French city of Menton (a few meters from the border with Italy, and close to Monaco).
In Monaco visited the Royal Palace (with another change of guard included), the Puerto of Yates, the Casino and toured the streets as it does of Grand Prix Formula 1 .
We spent a red light in Monaco, and then talk a little English to confuse enough, we spared the fine.
Nice - France, 08/21/1998
International
Les Relais de la Jeunesse (26 Av Scuderi - Cimiez) was our stay in Nice, but not recommended for being very strict schedules and the overall functioning of the hostel .
The Riviera is famous for the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea surrounded in the mountains. Obviously it's a beautiful corner of the world, with clear water beaches. To not stay with the idea that everything is beach, visited the ruins of the ancient city of Cemenelum , including an amphitheater and baths public.
We are also one of the meccas Film: Cannes . The red carpet was ready for Jan 51 Festival International du Film. There in the Bd de la Croisette offered a 15-minute walk Ferrari for 300 FF ($ 60).
Marseille - France, 08/22/1998
unthinkable after a dialogue between one of the traveling companions (supposedly only spoke English) and the night clerk of Hotel Timotel (18, B. Rabatau), we lodge at a reasonable cost, because we did a 3x2 price.
This city was our last stop in the Mediterranean then take the north route would take us to Paris - the end of the first tranche and change of travel companions.
En route we pass through Avignon (famous for Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon XII century the Rhone ). The nursery rhyme says " sur le pont d'Avignon, l'on y danse, l'on y danse " , and do not understand why he said " under the bridge" instead of saying " on the bridge "(one believes that down the bridges there is only water), but we find that under the bridge is a small island which operated a tavern.
